Management at Ergotron

Jim has been a member of the Ergotron team since May of 1996. His responsibilities include aligning IS strategies and goals with overall company objectives. He is also responsible for managing and implementing the development of long-term strategic IS plans and security of all Ergotron voice and data networks and included contracts. Prior to his current position, Mr. Fischer held the positions of IS Manager, Director, and Vice President of Information Services for Ergotron.

One of Jim’s greatest achievements was leading the successful implementation of Oracle E-Business Suite at Ergotron US Corporate Headquarters, along with a parallel implementation at European facilities and offices in September of 2004. A second implementation included the Ergotron China facility and was completed in 2008. This created a Global Information and ERP system that leverages all facets of Ergotron business units and departments including: Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, Warehouse, Quality, Order Management and CRM, giving Ergotron Management real-time visibility to critical business information across the globe.

Mr. Fischer also leads a progressive Applications Team and a Team of Business Analysts that are using Best Practices in leading many strategic business initiatives, including ERP, CRM and Supply Chain Management. The Ergotron IS group can stay tightly in line with the fast pace of business changes due to their expert in-house development and database team.

The Ergotron Information Services group serves all employees with a Global Network team that maintains the network across three continents. They provide help desk services for all employees, whether they are on-the-go mobile workers, telecommuters, or stationed in one of the many company facilities. The Network Team also maintains all aspects of the network and user environments, which contains Windows, Linux, SAN, Disk de-duplication, VOIP, Video Conferencing, Disaster Recovery, and Co-location. The Network Team implements and maintains its own VMware and virtualization initiatives to create a more energy efficient networking environment.

Before joining Ergotron, Jim was a Network Coordinator at Lifetouch and a Manager of Information Services at Norwest Banks Corporate Trust. Jim received a Bachelors of Science degree in History from Mankato State University and a Mini-Masters degree in Technology from the University of St. Thomas. Throughout his career, Mr. Fischer has attended many leadership and IS courses, seminars and conferences.

Jim is an active volunteer in his community. He is president of the local hockey association, past treasurer of the local Pheasants Forever chapter and president of a local non-profit seeking a new recreation center for the city where he lives.
