Ergotron Awards TeachWell Platforms to California’s Top Teachers

Workstations help teachers integrate technology into the curriculum by consolidating all the tools needed on one small platform

St. Paul, MN, April 22, 2010

Ergotron, a global manufacturer of ergonomic computer accessories, is pleased to award the 2010 California teachers of the year with TeachWell® Mobile Digital Platforms. The TeachWell workstation condenses essential classroom tools into a single compact technology hub that can move to wherever staff, teachers or students are assembled. Allowing K-12 and Hi-Ed teachers to sit or stand while presenting, working or collaborating, TeachWell can hold an instructor’s laptop or tablet PC, portable document camera/visualiser, DVD player, and wireless extenders to facilitate a 21st Century learning environment.

The five 2010 California Teachers of the Year who received TeachWell platforms are:

  • Kelly Kovacic who teaches Social Studies at The Preuss School in San Diego. Kovacic is California's nominee for the prestigious National Teacher of the Year competition.
  • Amber Carrow who teaches World History at Chemawa Middle School in Riverside.
  • Kathy R. Marvin who teaches Physical Science at Sierra Vista Middle School in Irvine.
  • Melanie Tolan who teaches English-language arts, History, and Physical Education at the Sarah Anthony School in San Diego.
  • Valerie Ziegler who teaches U.S. History, Economics, and Advanced Placement U.S. Government at Abraham Lincoln High School in San Francisco.

Each year, California’s State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O'Connell selects five educators who best represent California's teachers and symbolize the profession's contributions to quality education. Each of the winning teachers was successful as a finalist in their county competitions and has been teaching for at least five years. The competition is open to educators who teach pre-kindergarten through grade 12.
