Dan Miller Senior Vice President of Operations
Dan joined Ergotron in October 2004 as Senior Vice President of Operations, as a result of the merger between Ergotron and CFT. He held the same position at CFT. Dans responsibilities include all Supply Chain activities, in house Manufacturing, Distribution/Fulfillment, Contract Manufacturer selection and launch of a Virtual Manufacturing model in China, development and implementation of Quality Systems from development concepts through customer installation, all component sourcing, cost modeling, cost target achievement, Product Engineering and productivity gains, and implementation of DFM concepts.
The Operations team achievements at CFT include a successful launch of two Contract Manufacturing locations, one in China and one in Taiwan. Quality Systems were developed and implemented during launch of the production programs. Component sourcing successfully enabled a ramp of volume from start-up to over 175,000 systems per month within 9 months. Cost reduction programs were launched, both BOM related and design related, which yielded 15% to 20% annual cost reductions.
Dan has also been a vital contributor to the successful merger of CFT and Ergotron, with proven success as a change agent in various companies and Corporate structures spanning twenty-five years. He has broad experience with various technology companies in Operations and Marketing. His major company experience includes IBM Corporation, Control Data /Imprimis, and Western Digital Corporation. He has in depth knowledge of Asia outsourcing and manufacturing including a three year stint in Singapore running Materials and various operational units for WDC. He also helped set up a disc drive manufacturing operation in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Dan was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Finance from Mankato State University, with continuing education at the University of Minnesota Law School and in the Winona State University MBA program.
His hobbies and interests include fishing, golf, bird hunting, snowmobiling, and following his daughters basketball career.
Dan and his wife, Kathy, live in Bloomington. Their daughter, Melissa, is a freshman at Northwestern University, Evanston, IL., where she is a member of the Wildcat basketball team.
