Ergotron Introduces New LX Notebook Arm, Wall Mount Pivot, Swing Arm at 2006 CES, Increasing Functionality of Notebook and Flat Panel Displays

December 12, 2005 (PDF)

Four new category-leading mounting solutions that bring a new level of functionality to notebook computers and flat panel displays—including the new, first-of-its-kind Ergotron LX Notebook Arm for PC and Mac laptop users—will be introduced by Ergotron (Booth 25651) at the 2006 Consumer Electronic Show (CES) show in Las Vegas this January

The new consumer electronics mounting products, each enabled by Ergotron’s proprietary Constant Force (CF™) lift-and-pivot motion technology, include:

  • The new Ergotron LX Notebook Arm, which ensures full use of any notebook computer’s display when docked into a desktop environment. The innovative Notebook Arm is the first-of-its-kind, defining a new category of products. Perfect for high-intensity work applications where multiple kinds of information need to be viewed, this ingenious space-and time-saving accessory enables consumers to lift a notebook off their desk to place it side-by-side with their LCD monitor. The Ergotron LX Notebook Arm is compatible with any notebook and docking station weighing up to 17.5 lbs, including the IBM ThinkPad, Dell Home Notebooks, Sony VAIO Notebook PC, and Apple PowerBooks. The LX Notebook Arm, available in early-1Q06, will have a MSRP of $179.00.
  • The new Ergotron HD Wall Mount Pivot, which offers a comfortable alternative to rigid wall mounts for most flat panel displays weighing up to 50 lbs. The HD Wall Mount Pivot allows LCD TVs and plasma screens used in home theater, home office and other consumer electronics applications to tilt -5/+15° as well as pan side-to-side for maximum viewing comfort. With portrait/landscape capabilities, the HD Wall Mount Pivot is the perfect accessory for challenging flat panel positioning needs. The HD Wall Mount Pivot, available in early 2Q06, has a MSRP of $59.00.
  • The Ergotron HD Wall Mount Swing Arm enhances any viewing experience by adding flexibility to LCD TVs and plasma screens. The extender provides 13" of forward/back adjustability and enables displays weighing up to 50lbs. to pan 180° side-to-side. Cables are secured out-of-the-way, under the extender. Embedded with portrait/landscape capabilities, the HD Wall Mount Swing Arm tilts -5/+15°. The HD Wall Mount Swing Arm, available in early 2Q06, has an MSRP of $79.00.
  • Ergotron is now shipping the Neo-Flex Wall Mount, which adds greater range of movement to LCD Displays or TVs. Perfect for space-constrained organizational areas such as clinics, labs and manufacturing, the Neo-Flex Wall mount provides 5" of height adjustability, side-to-side rotation, forward/back movement and portrait/landscape viewing. The Neo-Flex Wall Mount is available for $49.00.

Each new product incorporates Ergotron’s Constant Force (CF™) lift-and-pivot motion technology. CF converts a conventional spring’s linear force curve into a constant flat force through the entire range of lifting or pivoting motion for a flat screen monitor, LCD TV, Plasma Screen or other digital display. As a result, consumers exert much less effort to noiselessly adjust their computer display or television. For the first time, the consumer electronics industry can be assured of robust reliability in each display and monitor installation, without inflated mounting project costs

“We’re thrilled to offer four new products that add flexibility and adjustability to LCD Displays, plasmas screens and notebooks,” said Lee Schalk, VP of North American Sales for Ergotron. “The CF advantage ensures effortless adjustability at a fraction of the cost. Adding these products to our collection of mounting solutions offers consumers a high-quality, less expensive alternative to traditional display and notebook mounting.”

Ergotron, a rapidly-growing global company focused on the channel and OEM business, expects to release additional CF products for the consumer electronics industry throughout 2006. Ergotron, whose 275 employees worldwide have been improving the human interface with digital displays since 1982, expects revenues in 2005 to approach $100 million, with representation in 67 countries.
