Ergotron Adds TeachWell LCD Mobile Digital Platform to Education Portfolio for 21st-Century Collaborative Learning

TeachWell System Eliminates Clutter, Consolidates Education Technology In Compact Classroom Hub

St. Paul, MN, May 10, 2010

Ergotron’s latest introduction, the TeachWell® LCD Mobile Digital Platform, joins the TeachWell Laptop Mobile Digital Platform in giving educators choice when consolidating all of their essential technology tools into a compact, high-performance hub. Designed for classrooms in K-12 primary and secondary schools, as well as private and public colleges and universities, these TeachWell Mobile Digital Platforms free teachers from being tethered to desks and remove the physical barriers between instructor and students to create collaborative learning environments.

In addition to consolidating teachers’ computers, displays, DVD players and wireless extenders onto a single platform, the new TeachWell offers a positioning feature for a variety of popular portable document cameras/visualisers, and now has expanded compatibility to handle the new Samsung SDP-860 Doc Camera. Working seamlessly with on-board projectors, remote displays and projection devices, TeachWell optimizes classroom space and reduces infrastructure investments by removing the need for a separate podium, desk and A/V cart.

“We listened to educators and reacted quickly to address the need for an LCD version of the TeachWell,” says Steve Reinecke, senior global director of healthcare and education industries at Ergotron. “Now with both a laptop and LCD version of TeachWell we can address all the different technologies being introduced into educational environments around the world.”

TeachWell allows instructors or students to easily move the display screen, keyboard and worksurface to match their position while they sit or stand. The keyboard/worksurface adjusts up and down 20" (51 cm), while the display can travel independently another 5" (13 cm) for a total height adjustment range of 25" (63 cm). The platform ships fully assembled for quick integration with existing computer hardware. The new LCD version includes an LCD pivot, large integrated worksurface, mounting tray for a portable document camera/visualiser, keyboard tray with left/right mouse tray, wrist rest, mouse holder, cable storage box, cable winding bracket, power strip mounting bracket, CPU holder and four dual casters.

The TeachWell LCD Mobile Digital Platform will be available for $949 (MSRP) in July 2010 in the US and in the global education markets through regional distribution and reseller channels. An optional Locking Drawer is sold separately as an accessory for an MSRP of $129. A Power Strip (US and Canada only) and a Utility Shelf for mounting a projector may also be purchased.

Now through June 30, K-12 schools in the United States and Canada have a chance to win a free TeachWell unit, a Samsung SAMCAM 860 ($799 MSRP), a Dell S300w Short Throw Wireless Projector ($999 MSRP), and a Dell Latitude™ 2100 Netbook PC ($329 MSRP), in Ergotron’s “Nominate a School Today” Sweepstakes.
