As of October 13, Ergotron has received from Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) OPA pre-approved numbers for mounting wall mount products in hospitals and other healthcare related facilities throughout California. Ergotron’s latest line of point-of-care products including the StyleView® HD Combo Arms, 200 Combo Arms, LX Wall Mount System, StyleView Vertical Lift, and StyleView Enclosure are pre-approved, and just about all Ergotron wall mounts products that attach to an Ergotron wall track are available as a pre-approved solution. An External and Internal Wall Mounting Solution will be available to meet healthcare customers’ individual structural requirements.
Here are the four OPA pre-approval numbers based on the different mounting configurations Ergotron will support:
- 2338-07 – Wall Track and all possible associated arms—Direct Stud Mounted (16" on center) or Internal Mount
- 2339-07 – Wall Track and all possible associated arms—(includes the StyleView Vertical Lift) External/Internal Mount
- 2341-07 – StyleView Vertical Lift—Internal Mount
- 2340-07 – StyleView VL Enclosure—Direct stud (16" on center) or Internal Mount
All of these OPA configurations can be mounted to metal, steel and wood studs and concrete wall structures. For more information about Ergotron’s OSHPD Pre-approval visit http://www.ergotron.com/tabid/94/default.aspx.
“We’re pleased to recognize Ergotron for their ongoing commitment and partnership with Ingram Micro and our channel partners,” says Keith Bradley, President, Ingram Micro North America.
“We’re glad to be a part of this pre-approval process with the OSHPD to help ensure patient safety in the event of damaging seismic activity,” says Neil Lien, product manager, wall mount systems at Ergotron. “We stand behind the structural integrity of our wall mounted products in helping facilities continue to function after earthquakes.”
OSHPD is responsible for overseeing all aspects of construction for general acute care, and psychiatric hospitals, as well as multi-story skilled nursing homes and intermediate care facilities in California. In response to the 1971 Sylmar earthquake—which caused several hospitals to collapse, endangering the lives of their patients and hampering their ability to provide emergency care to the injured—the State of California passed the Alfred E. Alquist Hospital Seismic Safety Act. Since 1973, all hospital construction has been governed by this legislation. To learn more about OSHPD visit http://www.oshpd.ca.gov/fdd/Pre-Approval/index.html.
Although OSHPD is a requirement specific to the state of California, other western states such as Utah, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, and Nevada may also be interested in adopting similar seismic requirements. These OSHPD OPA Pre-Approved numbers are also compliant with the Japan Acceptance Criteria AC-156. AC-156 is the standard test for certification for international earthquake resistance as developed by the International Code Council.
