Pete Segar Senior Vice President of Engineering and Chief Technical Officer


Pete Segar joined the Ergotron team in September 2004. Pete serves as senior technical advisor on all innovation and core product technology initiatives. He also manages and directs the overall strategies and initiatives of the Company to achieve its primary engineering, technology and product objectives.

Before joining Ergotron, Pete was Vice President of R&D at Seagate Technology Recording Head Operation. He has held several engineering and scientific positions at Seagate and IBM over his fifteen year career in the disc drive industry. Among Pete’s contributions to Seagate include helping the Recording Head group transition from fast-follower to a clear technology leader, and as Chief Technologist, guiding the effort to develop technology platforms to enable much more efficient product development.

Pete received a BS degree in Chemistry from University of Minnesota-Duluth, and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from University of Colorado. Later career education has focused on engineering, technology management, Design for Six Sigma, quality principles and management education. Dr. Segar has also been a member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and is Chairman of the VESA Standards Working Group for Notebook Computer Mounting.

In his free time, Pete enjoys spending time with his wife and three kids, and doing outdoor activities such as mountain biking, roller blading, wake boarding, and golf. As a side note, he can often be found with socks that don’t match.
