Quality Engineer
Eagan, Minnesota, USA
Position Summary
Provide ongoing global support of production released materials using Quality Engineering principles.
Position Responsibilities include:
Maintains supplier and manufacturing Quality Plans for production released materials in US and Europe
Works with suppliers, assemblers, and customers in US and Europe to resolve quality issues on production released materials
Approves supplier pre-shipment inspection and test data prior to shipment to ensure compliance
Works with suppliers to develop robust supplier quality plans to ensure “Quality at the Source” controls
Approves production released material engineering change orders (ECO’s) for US and Europe
Presides over MRB board for production released materials for US and Europe
Initiates engineering change orders including pre-approved NCR’s, marked-up drawings and BOM’s to resolve manufacturing issues and implement cost and manufacturability improvements for US and Europe
Initiates and manages NCR resolution process of production released materials for US and Europe
Drives root cause analysis and closed-loop-corrective-action (CLCA) and preventive actions back through the supply chain, design engineering, and the Quality Management System (QMS)
Investigates and quickly resolves repetitive and high profile customer complaints for US and Europe
Resolves factory “line down” and “manufacturability” issues for US and Europe
Ensures action taken in response to quality issues is effective and commensurate to the situation (escalate issues to management where appropriate)
Facilitates process improvement projects (i.e., lean, six sigma) to continuously improve QMS efficiencies
Travels (up to 20%) to EU and China to establish robust supplier control plans, transfer manufacturing processes and controls, or assist customers in the resolution of a systemic quality issue
Support Purchasing on material cost reduction projects
Generates engineering change orders for design improvement opportunities
Works within defined budgetary guidelines
Communicates effectively with co-workers, suppliers, and customers on quality related activities
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Quality or Engineering Discipline
Minimum of five years experience in Quality field
Well rounded understanding of Quality Assurance principles and practices
Well developed English communication skills (written/verbal)
Excellent analytical problem solving skills (progressive and growing culture)
Strong ISO-9001 process development background
Good computer skills with proficiency in Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint
Strong customer relations skills
Strong interpersonal relations and teambuilding skills
Familiar with product development steps and principles
Ability to train, lead, motivate and mentor personnel
